Students & Young Adults

WELCOME

Emmanuel is enriched by having people in and around their twenties at the heart of our church family. This age is a great time to explore faith and grow in God and we believe that this is best done within a church family. If you’re a student or young adult in Oxford, or preparing to move here, we’d love to hear from you!

SUNDAYS

On Sundays we gather at 10:30am. After the service, the students and young adults often head to a local park or pub for lunch.

Whether you’re able to stay for 30 minutes or 2 hours, it’s a great opportunity to enjoy a break from work and continue to grow relationships with others at Emmanuel.

MIDWEEK

We really value having those in and around their 20s at the heart of our church family.

Many of Emmanuel’s students and young adults join in with the connect group life of the church - forming friendships and benefitting from the support of people in different stages of life.

STUDENT & YOUNG ADULT NIGHTS

We have a passion for helping people discover, develop, and use their gifts.

Once a month our students and young adults meet together for an evening of prayer, worship and teaching. This is a great time to get to know each other better and grow in faith together.

“My favourite thing about being a student at Emmanuel is being part of a community that extends beyond a weekly meeting. It’s a group that loves to encourage each other and walk through faith together”

SOCIAL

As well as meeting on Sunday mornings and at our Student & Young Adult nights, we make time to hang out with each other throughout the week. Whether it’s a walk, a punting trip or a film night, we value quality time and having fun together. At various points in the year we put on larger events for students and young adults, creating great opportunities to bring friends along.

FAMILY

We really value the integration of students into our wider church family. One way we achieve this is through ‘adopt-a-student’, linking students with families in the church. We often find that these friendships are a real source of connection and stability and help students feel part of the wider Oxford community, as well as offering them an adoptive family in Oxford.

WEEKEND AWAY

Every year at the end of January we spend a few days away together. It’s a time in which we love to worship and enjoy time in God’s presence, as well as learn and grow through teaching and seminars. It’s also a time in which we relax, have fun, and deepen friendships within the student and young adult community.

“Becoming a Christian during my first year of uni alongside a pandemic was quite difficult at first, but Emmanuel made me feel at home and the Student & Young Adult nights allowed me to discover more about Jesus and devote more time to His teachings”
